‘Bad request time stamp () 40105’ error when you try to log into your computer
This unfriendly message is actually telling you that the time on your local computer is wrong and this is preventing you from logging in. This is likely due to a switch to, or from, British Summer Time.
How to resolve:
In order to log in we need to disconnect your computer from the Internet while we log in.
If you are using a desktop this may be as simple as disconnecting the network cable from the back of your computer and logging in as normal. Once logged in you can plug the cable back in and all should be fine.
If you are using a laptop (or a desktop with a wifi adapter) then the following should work:
Restart your computer and wait until it gets to the login screen but do not press any buttons yet.
Towards the bottom right of the login screen you should see some icons. Click the wifi symbol (1 in the picture) to show the list of wifi networks.
Next click Disconnect (2 in the picture).
You should now be able to log in using your regular WBS username and password
Once logged in you can reconnect to the Internet by clicking the same wifi icon (towards the bottom right of screen near the time) and this time selecting Connect and ticking the ‘Connect automatically’ option
When fully logged in try connecting to the VPN if you have access. This should reset your computer’s clock so you don’t have this problem each time.
